Microsoft Teams Now Lets Admins Block External Bots From Meetings

Microsoft Teams has introduced a new meeting protection policy that allows administrators to automatically block all detected external bots from joining meetings, enhancing security by preventing unauthorized non-human participants. This policy, available through the Teams admin center under “Manage bots,” requires admin activation and can be assigned to specific users or groups, helping reduce organizational risk from potentially malicious third-party bots. The rollout began in targeted release in August 2026, with worldwide general availability expected by late September.
